PRIVACY POLICY
What personal data we collect and why
This privacy policy will explain how our organization uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website.
Data Collection
RheumaCura Foundation collects the following data:
• Personal identification information (First name, Surname, email address, your message to us)
How do we collect your data?
We collect and process data when you:
• Register online for a service.
• Voluntarily complete a survey or provide feedback on our contact form or via email.
• Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.
How will we use your data?
RheumaCura Foundation collects your data so that we can:
• Inform you about our activities if you have asked us to do so.
• RheumaCura Foundation does not share your data with any other organisations without your specific consent.
How do we store your data?
Data storage and hosting
Our website is hosted by Hostpoint AG, Rapperswil-Jona (Switzerland). All website data and e‑mails stored by Hostpoint are kept on servers located exclusively in Switzerland in FINMA‑certified, ISO‑27001‑compliant data centres with multiple daily backups and technical protection against unauthorized access (e.g. DDoS protection, redundant storage, access controls).
Hostpoint processes this data on our behalf as a hosting provider and is contractually obliged to implement appropriate technical and organizational measures in line with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Newsletter and MailerLite
For our newsletter we use the service “MailerLite”, operated by MailerLite Limited. The newsletter subscriber data (e‑mail address and, if provided, name and other information) is stored in secure data centres of MailerLite in the European Union (currently in particular in Germany, the Netherlands and other EU locations) that are certified according to ISO 27001 and meet the security requirements of the GDPR.
MailerLite acts as our data processor and is bound by a data processing agreement (DPA) that obliges it to process personal data only on our instructions, to protect it through appropriate technical and organizational measures, and not to pass it on to third parties without a legal basis.
General security measures
To protect your personal data, we and our service providers use appropriate technical and organizational measures such as encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), access controls, secure passwords, regular backups and continuous monitoring of systems in accordance with the requirements of the revised Swiss FADP and, where applicable, the GDPR.
Despite these measures, transmission of data over the internet may have security gaps; completely risk‑free protection of data against access by third parties cannot be guaranteed, but the chosen providers and measures correspond to current industry standards for secure web hosting and e‑mail marketing services.
Retention period
We process and store personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this privacy notice or if we have a legitimate interest in storage (for example to maintain our website, operate our newsletter or handle enquiries), and in addition in accordance with statutory retention and documentation obligations under Swiss law.
Data relating to newsletter subscriptions is stored for as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter and until you withdraw your consent or object to further e‑mails; afterwards we may retain limited information about your subscription for a reasonable period where this is necessary to document your consent or to comply with legal obligations.
If you contact us by e‑mail or other channels, we store your data for as long as necessary to process and respond to your enquiry and for the duration of any ongoing relationship with you, and beyond that where statutory retention obligations (for example under accounting or association law) apply.
Personal data will be deleted or anonymised as soon as it is no longer required for the purposes mentioned, unless and to the extent that longer storage is required or permitted by applicable law, or until RheumaCura ceases its activities and all legal retention periods have expired.
