Rheumacura

Donate

It doesn’t matter how much you donate. It all helps us to find ways to better understand rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases and find ways to relieve the suffering of those affected.

RheumaCura is recognised as a Swiss non-profit foundation. Your donation can be deducted against tax. In some cantons, a minimum donation of CHF 100 is required for tax deduction. Thank you for donating to make more patient-centred research possible! To keep our administration costs as low as possible, we thank donations per bank or post check transfer by letter only above CHF 50. Thank you for your understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I donate to the RheumaCura Foundation?

Around two million people in Switzerland live with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs). There are between 150 and 200 different conditions — from very common ones such as low back pain and osteoarthritis to rare diseases like Still’s disease, a form of arthritis that usually begins in early childhood. All these conditions are painful, disabling, and cause enormous suffering. Treatments can often relieve symptoms, but no rheumatic diseases can currently be cured.

In Switzerland, only limited public funding is available to better understand these diseases, improve treatments, and search for cures. RheumaCura Foundation is the only private Swiss organisation dedicated to fundraising for research in this neglected area.

RheumaCura was founded by patients and is run by patients and professionals who work closely with them. Research puts patients first — not prestige or profit.

Is my information secure?

We take data protection seriously. RheumaCura complies with Swiss data protection laws, as outlined in our Privacy and Data protection policy . Our website is hosted in Switzerland. Our partners for newsletters, translation, payment processing, and analytics are based in Switzerland or the European Union.

What are the transaction fees for online donations?

When donating online through RaiseNow (for example via Twint or credit card), you will see the transaction fees and can choose to cover them. If not, fees are automatically deducted from your donation. Typical fees are around 1.25%.

To help us reduce administrative costs, you can also donate directly to our bank account using a QR code.

Is RheumaCura certified by ZEWO?

ZEWO is an independent organisation that certifies charities which use donations effectively, economically, and for the intended purpose. To receive certification, organisations must meet 21 strict standards covering transparency, integrity, ethical conduct, financial management, and more.

RheumaCura aspires to ZEWO certification as a quality management tool and sign of donor trust. We already apply ZEWO standards whenever possible. However, as a young and small foundation, our board members still perform many executive tasks. This means we do not yet meet the requirement to separate the board of directors from executive management.

Can I make a donation in a foreign currency?

Yes. You can donate in euros (EUR) or US dollars (USD) to our Swiss franc (CHF) account: CH77 0900 0000 1573 1733 7.

Your contribution will be converted to CHF, and bank fees may apply. For larger or recurring donations, please contact us beforehand.

Can I deduct my donation from my taxes?

Yes. RheumaCura is a recognised charity and exempt from taxation. Each January, you will receive a donation confirmation if your total yearly donations exceed CHF 50. The minimum and maximum deductible amounts depend on your canton’s tax regulations.
